The slopes covered with black sand, produced from the Etna volcano, are colonized by four species of endemic plants of Sicily.Above 2100 m asl,the bushes of Astragalus Siculus( Sicilian Milkvetch), Cerastium tomentosumvar. aetnaeum, (Snow-in-summer), Rumex aetnensis(French Sorrel) and Saponaria sicula(Sicilian Soapwort) form majestic spots of colour.If you will be really lucky you will find out even the Etna violet .
